Rutte Old Simon Genever

Rutte Old Simon Genever

Old Simon is more than a genever. It’s a tribute – named after Simon Rutte, the visionary founder who began distilling in the back of his family’s grocery store.

Origin Dordrecht, Holland

A Timeless Dutch Classic with a Bold, Spiced Character

In the heart of Dordrecht, a quaint Dutch town steeped in maritime heritage, stands a distillery where time slows and tradition lingers in the air like botanicals in a copper still. This is the home of Rutte – a name synonymous with craftsmanship since 1872. And among its finest expressions stands a true icon: Rutte Old Simon Genever.
What makes Old Simon so unique? It’s a blend of malt spirit and neutral grain spirit, softened by a careful mix of botanicals like walnuts, hazelnuts, mace, and roasted coriander seeds, alongside more classic ingredients like juniper, angelica, and orris root. The result is a full-bodied, nutty genever with a whisper of spice and warm, round complexity.

Sip it neat, and you taste its heritage. Use it in a cocktail, and you unlock a secret weapon—able to stand tall in a Negroni twist or lend depth to an Old Fashioned. It’s a spirit with both power and finesse, much like the man who inspired it.
